Linux Kernel 4.14 Released: What is New?

Linus Torvalds, the creator and the chief developer of Linux has just announced the release of the latest stable release of the Linux Kernel, the Linux Kernel 4.14. Linux Kernel iv.xiv brings a number of new and highly predictable changes and features and is set to become the next long-term support (LTS) release. In his blog mail which marked the release of the Linus Kernel 4.fourteen. he wrote,"Anyway, go out and test the new 4.14 release, that is slated to be the adjacent LTS kernel and start sending me pull request for the 4.15 merge window".

The latest release of Linux Kernel iv.14 brings a huge improvement for file systems, hardware enablement, performance improvements, commuter improvements, and lots more. One of the biggest changes coming with the Kernel iv.fourteen is the support from larger memory limits on x86_64 hardware which increases the ihard limits to 4PiB of physical address space up from 64TiB and 128PiB of virtual address space up from an earlier limit of 256TiB.

Other notable changes include a new Realtek WiFi driver, EFI improvements, initial implementation for Zstd file-organisation compression in Btrfs and SquashFS, EXT4 scalability improvements, AMD Secure Processor support, Rewritten Intel Enshroud Quality Monitoring, Microsoft Hyper-V optimizations, AMDGPU DRM Vega improvements, Better back up for Ryzen processors, and more.

With each new Kernel release also comes the back up for new SoCs, boards, and ARM devices. Keeping upward with the tendency, Linux Kernel 4.fourteen adds support for the Raspberry Pi Cypher W, Rockchip RK3328/Pine 64, the Banana Pi R2, M3, M2M and M64, and others.
