When temps are about 20 degrees or less, and we attempt to release the tailgate, the little button within the "handle" opening does not want to activate the electrical latch. It seems if nosotros go on our fingers on the switch and "warm information technology up", then the latch releases.

If temps are higher, no problem opening tailgate immediately.

There is no external primal hole on this model, or dashboard switch. Possessor's manual has a procedure to release the lock from within, but information technology involves crawling into the cargo area, opening a tiny hatch, and pushing a little lever you can hardly meet. Testing this method, if needed, has been unsuccessful. (And what if cargo expanse is full ? )

Anybody else have this trouble, or a better alternating release method ?

If its under warranty, then take it in considering there are likewise many steps besides equally tools needed to check this for me to list !!!

Whatever of these items can crusade the tailgate outer handle or the ability tailgate not to piece of work:

A bad door lock knob switch

A bad door lock actuator

not meant to be a impaired question just has this happened later running the motorcar thru a wash, or perhaps thru some road slop and so left outside in those temps? Sounds like its froze if it works after being "warmed up" some.
Assuming your 3/36k warranty is still valid i'd have it to the dealer, preferably on a cold solar day so they can recreate it.

We take a '12 crv, no problems with the latch on ours when information technology'south been cold outside (and we've had sub goose egg temps).

I accept the same issue with the rear hatch lock on my 2022 crv. The dealership said that there is zero they can exercise unless Honda problems them a technical bulletin to fix it. I alive in NH and it gets cold. Information technology's very frustrating.

Default 2014 Honda CRV

Having the aforementioned upshot when it gets cold the back hatch will not open up. The dealer said at that place is no call back find and to bring it in and then they can try to lubricate the latch. Has anyone had any luck with this solution?

2014 Odyssey EX (non EX-L) owner here with aforementioned verbal smart key/smart entry issue which only duplicates in cold temps (approx 20 degrees F). Admittedly, I have even so to contact my dealer due to a busy schedule, merely reading other posts in here makes me think this will be nothing more than than a continuous uphill climb with Honda since the problem only happens when it's common cold outside. All 4 doors answer/unlock just fine to the smart key fob when I bear on them in cold temps, merely the torso latch does not, even if I take the key out of my pocket and concur right up to the back hatch sensor. I even tried rubbing my hands to make them warmer in hopes the sensor would register my touch to open it but to no avail. This appears to be a defect in the trunk latch sensor as I never hear annihilation later touching it repeatedly. Commonly when the torso latch sensor is touched, you'll hear an unlocking sound and the trunk pops open a hair in social club to open up it manually. For what it'due south worth, I do non have the powered liftgate - my trunk has to be lifted upwards and downwards manually.

Pitiful I couldn't provide any solution with my post at this fourth dimension, but wanted all to know your upshot is not limited to the CRV. I will return with any experiences I encounter at the dealership, but if anyone else encounters same issue please mail in here and file a complaint with NHTSA.

I am experiencing the aforementioned problem with my 2022 Honda CRV. The cargo latch is difficult to unlock on first attempt when temp is below 50 degrees. By the time I get information technology to my local dealership, the latch is working properly and so the service techs say they tin can't make up one's mind the trouble. I've taken it to them twice to no avail. Very frustrating. My CRV is still under warranty (23,800 mi)
